Glee actress Naya Rivera kept her job as a nanny while filming the show
She kept her babysitting job in case she didn't make it as an actress.
The Glee star wasn't sure if she would make it big in the industry when she first landed her role on the hit TV comedy.
To play it safe, Naya looked after children until she had some idea of how successful Glee might be.
"I was still a nanny up until the third episode of season one," she said in the latest issue of Complex magazine. "I didn't work that much and I didn't know if I would still be around."
The star is currently dating rapper Big Sean. She revealed that she wasn't aware of his popularity for a while into their relationship.
"I knew songs like A*$ because it was huge, but I never knew what he looked like. If I ran into him, I wouldn't have known who he was," she explained. "I was with my brother at his senior game in Tennessee and we were in his car going to get dinner. He played Mula from Sean's mixtape and I was like, 'What is this song? Who is this?'
"I ended up randomly meeting him. I told him that story the other day and we were still cracking up."
Naya's musical TV show has showcased a number of gay relationships at school age.
The 26-year-old thinks the choice to blend it into storylines is positive for the young target audience.
"Having gay characters makes a difference, especially when you are a teenager and you need people to look up to," she commented. "Your world feels so small. The tiniest thing can make you think, 'I'm gonna die!' I'm glad Glee is around for people dealing with something that big in such a small world. It's important."
Naya and the rest of her Glee cast are currently mourning the surprise death of their beloved castmate Cory Monteith. The actor was found dead in his Canadian hotel room over the weekend.
