Geri Horner will join comedian Rob Beckett to front a new Saturday night talent show with a twist.

BBC One’s All Together Now will do away with the standard talent show judging panel and instead see singers perform in front of a discerning audience called The 100, a collection of opinionated musical experts.

If the performer, either a group or solo singer, manages to impress, members of The 100 will get up to sing along.

The more members of the audience who are prompted to get up to take part, the higher the contestant’s score.

Spice Girls star Horner’s role in the show is to head up The 100, offering her advice as a performer while providing support and encouragement to the contestants.

She said: “I’m so excited to be part of this show. It’s about celebrating talent, uniting people from all walks of life, feeling good AND singing!

“It’s a whole lot of joy standing up together on a Saturday night.”

Kate Phillips, the BBC’s controller of entertainment commissioning, said: “What we really, really wanted on this show was a leader of the The 100 with expertise, entertainment and energy.

“Geri is the perfect choice and we can’t wait for her and Rob to spice up Saturday nights on BBC One.”

Horner has 11 number one singles to her name, both with the Spice Girls and as a solo artist.

Beckett was previously confirmed to be the show’s presenter.

The six-part series will air in 2018.
