Take a sneak peek inside this cool new virtual reality gaming arcade opening in Dublin
Soon you'll be able to climb Mount Everest, chase zombies, train to be a space pirate, perform open-heart surgery or even hang out with Rick and Morty. Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
It's a bit of both as a new virtual reality arcade comes to Dublin.
Located in Haymarket in Smithfield, Future Shock VR Arcade offers a wide-range of games and virtual reality experiences, including a simulation of climbing Mount Everest, deep-sea diving (coming close to some of the most awe-inspiring creatures of the ocean), an application that allows them to chase zombies, conduct oddball science experiments with Rick and Morty and there's even a programme to simulate surgery.
There's also a virtual-reality game called 'Job Simulator' where gamers can immerse themselves in real-world jobs. It's way more fun than it sounds - while working in an office you can photocopy your head until your brains come out of the machine. You can't do that in real life, no matter how hard you try.
Visitors will enter one of the arcade’s VR pods and put on an HTC Vive portable headset, to fully immerse themselves in the experience.
It opens on Saturday, October 28 (just in time for Halloween) and a one-hour session costs €32 per person.
