Splendor is the latest board game to get video game treatment

The popular turn-based card game, Splendor, which tasks players with accumulating gems and nobles is now available on PC, iOS, and Android.

Board games are experiencing a resurgence in popularity in recent years, no doubt helped by the conversion of popular titles into mobile and PC games. Splendor is the latest board game to be turned into a video game.

The turn-based card game sees players accumulate gems, either in the form of tokens or cards. These are then used as resources to purchase cards, some of which grant victory points. The goal is to get the biggest gem network and become the most influential merchant.

Splendor is available via Steam, the App Store, and the Google Play Store. It features a solo mode and a pass-and-play mode for two to four players. Rather than offering a sliding difficulty scale, the AI opponents are based on “unique strategy behaviours.”

The digital version also offers the scenario-based “Challenges” mode. These may tweak rules, teach enhanced techniques and strategies, or set a time or turn constraint.

Splendor is now available on PC, iOS, and Android.
