This long-running series has always taken a larger-than-life approach to golf, so fittingly it finally gets the VR treatment and puts you right in the middle of its cartoonish fairways.

You might even get a little exercise because EGVR requires approximate club swings and standing up for sustained periods (don't bother sitting down, the motion-tracking is too inaccurate).

It's a delightful round of golf as far as it goes but, compared to previous instalments, EGVR comes up a little short of the green. Too few courses, one annoying caddie (extra ones cost €5 to download!) and the absence of multiplayer mean the attraction is fleeting.

Yet the satisfaction of landing a long iron feet from the hole or sinking a monster putt is magnified by the virtual reality of "being" there on the course.
