The Holmes Wilson Trophy open team championship continues to attract the most significant field of the entire competitive year.
Nobody, literally nobody, was missing last weekend. We had in total 101 teams in action and of course the championship was dominated by the leading players of the moment.
Tom Hanlon linked up with Tommy Garvey and they called in several ex-members of Team Ireland, Nick Fitzgibbon and Adam Mesbur - but they had a shock in store at the hands of Ciaran Coyne, David Walsh, Donal Mac Aonghusa and Enda Glynn who won by a solitary VP.
Now, don't get me wrong, this is a very excellent team. Once again, the organisation and direction were perfect under the leadership of President, Fearghal O'Boyle. I thought it the best championship in recent years.
Never send a child on a man's errand - and on this hand Rory Boland really meant it.
In one instance, by the way, there was no bidding from EW. Hard to believe at this level.

N tried hard to get to 7, but the bid of 5C fairly put the cat among the pigeons. Rory Boland went one (or two) better when he jumped straight to 7C and gained a bucket of Imps when doubled since his teammates got to 7S.
