From Calvin to Tom - Taylor's relationship timeline
Can’t keep up?
There’s hardly been a day in the past several weeks that Taylor Swift hasn’t been in the headlines.
From her breakup with Calvin Harris to her very public relationship with Tom Hiddleston, Taylor’s love-life has started to resemble a real-life romantic comedy.
On Wednesday Calvin took to Twitter to clear the air about their relationship breakdown, and it sent the internet into a frenzy.
Feeling a bit lost?
Here’s a timeline from when they split:
1 June 2016 – The breakup
People reported that Calvin and Taylor’s 15 month relationship ended just one week after the DJ was hospitalised following a car crash.
2 June 2016 – Confirmation
Calvin confirmed on Twitter that his relationship with the pop songstress had ended.
He said: “The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect.” Taylor retweeted his message, but the tweet was later deleted.
15 June 2016 – New love
Exactly two weeks after the pair were reported to have broken up, Tay was photographed in a very public display of affection with British actor Tom Hiddleston on a beach near her Rhode Island home.
Both Taylor and Calvin deleted all traces of their relationship from their social media accounts that day - even the cute ones from their tropical holiday in March to celebrate their one year anniversary.
Calvin tweeted “Oh boy it’s about to go down,” before Swiftly deleting it.
21 June 2016 – It’s official
Any doubts about Tay and Tom’s relationship were quashed when the pair were spotted at Taylor’s bestie Selena Gomez’s concert. Tom met Taylor’s parents in her hometown Nashville in the following days.
24 June 2016 – Meet the parents
The loved-up pair were papped walking along a Suffolk beach with Tom’s mother.
25 June 2016 – Next stop Rome
These two spend a lot of their time in the air. Hiddleswift then headed to Rome where they spent a lot of time holding hands and showing the world how happy they are together.
29 June 2016 – Calvin’s fine too
Calvin shows that he’s not sitting at home crying into tubs of Ben and Jerry’s by posting photos on Snapchat with a group of girls in Cabo.
4 July 2016 - Tom wears *that* t-shirt
Tom is introduced to Taylor’s #girlsquad in her annual fourth of July party. Tom even wore a t-shirt that said “I [heart] T.S.”.
5 July 2016 - Instagram official
The happy couple appear in their first Instagram photo alongside Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds and Taylor’s best friends.
13 July 2016 - Calvin's Twitter rant
TMZ reports that Taylor and Calvin broke up because he failed to acknowledge her input on his latest hit with Rihanna, This Is What You Came For.
Taylor wrote the song under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg as they agreed to keep the collaboration a secret, but she was reportedly hurt when in an interview (when they were still together) Calvin said he couldn’t see himself working with her in the future.
After Taylor’s input in the song was confirmed by People, Calvin held nothing back about their relationship in a series of tweets.
He quoted a tweet that confirmed Taylor’s contribution, and said: “And she sings on a little bit of it too. Amazing lyric writer and she smashed it as usual.”
“I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals though. And initially she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym.”
“Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though,” he continued.
“I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do.”
The hit DJ even took a swing at Taylor’s on-going feud with singer Katy Perry, saying: “I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it.”
“Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you’ve earned a great one.”
He then wished everyone a good day and left the internet to go into meltdown: “God bless everyone have a beautiful day.”
Katy responded with a silent meme of Hilary Clinton and then retweeted her own tweet from 2015, which said: “Time, the ultimate truth teller.”
