One of the most eye catching additions to the Electric Picnic festival this year was 'swimming in the lake.'

However, it appears that people are getting wet enough in the fields as the bad weather is putting the crowds off swimming.

A visit during peak time showed only six people out of the 50,000 attendees using the facility.

A member of the security staff who was on duty blamed the bad weather for the poor attendance at the area.

They said: "With the weather we have had this morning, you would want to be mad to swim in that."

The swimming area is located a 15 minute walk from the mainstage.

Festival organiser, Melvin Bell, said: "It hasn't been massive, but it's actually been really enjoyable for those who have done it. I think people have actually been very pleased with the system.

"It would be very difficult to lose anybody, there would be lots of lifeguards."
