World's best barbers to stage mini festival in Ireland
Some of the best-known gents' hairstylists in the world will be arriving in Dublin for Ireland's first-ever barber conference.
Barber Cut Dublin is a day-long event that will feature celebrity and master barbers from the US and Europe.
The mini-festival is the brainchild of barber Sam Donnelly (41) and event organiser Kieron Black (44).
"It's seen as cool to be a barber now and there's almost as many barber shops in Dublin as there are coffee shops," Sam told the Herald.
"With me it's a lifestyle as I'm a fourth-generation barber and my first shop was around long before it was cool - and we'll be around for many more years.
"We have barbers coming in from around the world and cutting gents' hair on the day, but there are different styles and approaches.
"What the event will involve will be people being able to watch international barbers they've been following on social media and interact with them.
"The whole day will be like a mini-festival, so everybody will have an average stage time of 45 minutes, cutting hair and talking about their method.
"We'll be going from midday until 1am. There will be DJs spinning tunes, and at the end of the day we'll have two bands playing at the after-party."
The event will take place in the Opium Rooms on Wexford Street on October 2. More information can be found at www.barbercutdublin.com
