Vodafone Comedy Festival line-up revealed: Rory Scovel, TJ Miller, Dara O'Briain, Tommy Tiernan among names
Vodafone giving away €1000 and lots of free tickets for events
This year's Vodafone Comedy Festival will be the biggest yet with over 100 acts including homegrown talents Dara O'Briain and Tommy Tiernan as well as international acts including TJ Miller and Rory Scovel.
There will be 24 US comedians on the bill, and among them Miller makes his Dublin debut with his solo show and his sketch troupe Heavyweight.
The Silicon Valley star has been wowing on the big screen in flicks like Office Party and Deadpool and he's set to star in the Emoji Movie, Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One and Kristen Stewart's Underwater.
Scovel, who was a big hit last year, returns with his forthcoming Netflix special Rory Scovel Tries Stand-Up Comedy for the First Time.
Also on the bill for the Iveagh Gardens festival (from July 27 to 30th) this year are Kyle Kinane, Nate Bargatze, Aparna Nancharla, Michael Ian Black, Carmen Lynch and Jay Larson as well as New York comedy legend Colin Quinn.
Quinn is a veteran of the Comedy Cellar club alongside Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock, a Saturday Night Live stalwart, a Broadway star, film actor and in more recent years a star of HBO’s Girls.
Stand-up Jackie Kashian, Saturday Night Live writer Anna Drezen, Emily Heller (Conan, Maron & Inside Amy Schumer), Chris DiStefano, Sam Morril, Liz Miele and Ryan O’Flanagan will also appear.
Rachel Feinstein & Mark Normand return having blown audiences away supporting Louis C.K. & Amy Schumer on their arena shows here last year.Also Tom Rhodes makes his festival debut.
From elsewhere around the world there will be Aussie stand-up and The Last Leg presenter Adam Hills, South African star Loyiso Gola, Stephen K Amos and Tim Key.
Among the Irish names are Tommy Tiernan, Dara O'Briain, Al Porter, David O'Doherty, Katherine Lynch, PJ Gallagher, Maeve Higgins, Jason Byrne, Neil Delamare, Deirdre O'Kane, Foil Arms & Hog, and Barry Murphy as well as Alison Spittle, Aoife Dooley, Joanne McNally, Catherine Bohart, Davey Reilly, Martin Angolo, Enya Martin, Danny O’Brien, Sahar Ali, Julie Jay, Hannah Mamalis and Shane Clifford.
Outside of the comedians there will be the return of the Horsebox Theatre and the Turning Pirate troupe will be on hand to entertain with music and street entertainers.
