Musicians, dancers, and appreciative audiences will pack Ennis this weekend as Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016 kicks off.

Some 450,000 people are expected to attend the eight-day festival while more than 700 musicians will perform sets, songs and sing-alongs.

A cultural parade and workshops will take place during the celebration.

The fleadh will be accompanied by a once-off display of Irish musical instruments dating back more than 3,000 years.

Clare Museum will stage the exhibition and it will include horns and musicians' clothing unearthed from the famous Booleybrien hoard discovered in 1930.
