Hundreds of kite fliers and spectators experienced a visual feast in the skies over Keel Beach at the Mayo International Kite Festival at the weekend.

Professional kite enthusiasts and keen amateurs alike painted the sky of the Achill Island beach with vibrant kites. One of the professional fliers, Andrew Beattie, put on a display which filled the sky with his impressive kites. He said: "The conditions are great for kites and it's brilliant to see so many people come out and get flying."

Event organiser Francois Colussi said: "We're delighted to welcome families to the Mayo International Kite Festival once again this weekend. Year after year it proves to be such a fun day out for all ages, full of colour and good spirits."
