The iconic Irish band have failed to reach the number one spot with their single, This Is.

ASLAN have failed to reach the top spot in the Irish music charts with their single ‘This Is’.

The Dublin band, led by singer Christy Dignam, were hoping to secure their first number one in 31 years together while also entering the Guinness Book of Records for taking 27 years to do so.

David Bowie continues to hold the record, as ‘This Is’ managed to make it into the top three, but narrowly missed out on poll position – with Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ claiming number one for the ninth week.

U2 streamed a performance of the track for the fundraising concert A Night With Christy last week and it made number 12 in the charts.
