Feathers and metallics set the trend for season
The Golden Globes style augurs well for the upcoming red carpet season with the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) in LA on January 25, the Baftas in London on February 8 followed by the Oscars in Hollywood two weeks later.
That's pretty intense and a lot of posh frocks, smoky eyes and borrowed diamonds.
Over the next few weeks, expect to see a red carpet love affair with feather dresses, gowns in metallic hues like silver and pewter, and lots and lots of embellishment with glittering, surface detail.
Julianne Moore captured all these trends on Sunday night in her Givenchy gown with silver sequinned top and skirt of ombre feathers in shades of grey.
Claire Dane's Valentino gown had the marmite factor - you either loved it or hated it, but it featured textural interest with pretty, woven feathers.
Lots of stars successfully used metallics to shine, including Dakota Johnson, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Lopez whose Zuhair Murad panelled cape dress, with train and vertical silver beading, will undoubtedly morph onto the high street - but minus that dramatic plunge.
My favourite gown was Sienna Miller's Miu Miu cream gown, which featured silver trim and magnificent beading and embroidery. Sienna shone as she remained true to her signature, Boho style, right down to her tousled bob.
Amal Alamuddin's monochrome look echoed her hubbie's wedding tux by Armani, but if she looked a little bored, she did show fashion sass, adding a pair of white, elbow-length gloves to her Dior gown - they will trigger copycat accessorising. I wasn't gone on her white envelope clutch, but she used it to great effect to brandish her 'Je suis Charlie' badge.
Khloe Kardashian's 'Theia' two-piece by Irish designer Don O'Neill proved a sensational hit. She hosted the E! post-show party wearing Don's black stretch crepe turtle neck with a full circle chiffon skirt with thigh-high slash and satin waistband.
The good news ladies is that this SS15 outfit will cost a €795 to buy, a fraction of some of the other Golden Globes looks.
"The reaction has been off the scale because Khloe has 16m followers on Instagram: within hours, she had 650,000 likes for her Theia outfit and orders are pouring in from stores who want to add it to their spring buy," Don told me.
