Early risers catch the best cronut, all the way from NY
FIRST it conquered New York; then it decimated London – and now it's got Dublin in its sights. Get ready to consume or be consumed by... the cronut.
It's a pastry – think of a cross between the doughnut and the croissant – and where is it arriving? Only to one of the country's most happening hotspots – the Marker Hotel in Dublin's Grand Canal Square.
Thanks to the hotel's executive chef Gareth Mullins, Dubliners can now enjoy the mouth-watering New York delight every morning, when they're sold fresh and in boxes of four.
Each week, three boxes will contain a golden ticket and the possessor of the ticket will win some very exciting prizes, including an urban spa escape.
The cronut is the brainchild of New York based, award-winning Parisian chef Dominique Ansel. Queues (or 'lines', as they say in the Big Apple) start forming at 5am every day outside his Manhattan bakery.
