As they say, it's the most wonderful time of the year.

And for Irish children with special needs, this Christmas is set to be a memorable one.

The Helix Theatre in Dublin City University will be hosting three sensory friendly pano performances for children with special needs.

The Sleeping Beauty will star Fair City's George McMahon as Harry Smiles and Lauren Nevin as Princess Aurora, as well as Aidan Mannion and Eoin Cannon.

This unique performance will feature softer lighter lighting, no loud or sudden noises, lower music and there will be no flashing merchandise available.

Irish Autism Action (IAA) has teamed up with The Helix for this year's production, after last year's run proved to be such a succes.

“The Helix have consulted with Irish Autism Action and everything is well thought out for children with special needs,” said Jacinta Walsh of IAA.

“Best of all the staff at The Helix are really welcoming so everyone can just relax and enjoy the show.”

Sensory friendly shows have been arranged for December 23rd at 2pm, January 5th at 5pm and a special sensory friendly school show on January 9 at 11am.
