War of words over Keane book
FORMER TV3 presenter Lorraine Keane has accused the station of banning staff from the launch of her memoirs this evening, writes Ken Sweeney.
The broadcaster said she had been contacted by "upset" former colleagues still working at the station to say they would be unable to attend the event at the newly opened The Pink nightclub on Dublin's Dawson Street, on the orders of TV3 management.
"They were told not to come to my book launch, or if they did attend, to expect repercussions.
"Obviously I'm very disappointed I won't have my friends from TV3 there but I understand the predicament my friends are in," she said last night.
However, TV3 said staff had been given no directive as to whether they could join guests at the launch of 'Working The Red Carpet'.
"That is complete rubbish. TV3 staff who choose to attend Lorraine Keane's book launch are free to do so," a station spokeswoman said.
The station also denied rumours of a meeting last Monday morning at TV3 in which some staff were advised to stay away from the launch.
