Among Padre Pio's devotees were Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro, King Alfonso of Spain, songwriter Irving Berlin and Irish football manager Giovanni Trapattoni. Others include:

Damien's mother attributed her son's recovery from glandular fever, while playing for Blackburn Rovers, to a blessing he received with a Padre Pio glove. After it, Duff  played with a medal or a relic in his sock or in his boot. "He's a good believer," she said.

Neil's mother, Kay, met Padre Pio while on honeymoon in Italy in 1967. "God bless you and the children that you will have," Padre Pio said to her. She also attended his Mass and was blessed by him. Years later, Kay christened her son Neil Pio.

While visiting Padre Pio as a young priest in the 1940s, legend has it that the friar told him he would become Pope. Later, he requested Padre Pio to pray for a friend with cancer. Shortly before surgery, it was discovered that the cancer had disappeared. No doubt impressed by the miracle, as Pope he fast-tracked Padre Pio's beatification and canonisation.
