Cat Power
Cat Power

1 Cat Power is a bit special. Known to her parents as Chan Marshall, this singer has the power to sear your soul. She has been away far too long but is returning for a reasonably intimate seated show in the Olympia on July 16. Tickets are now on sale at ticketmaster.ie.

2 Speaking of amazing voices, Lyric Opera has gathered together quite a few of them to mark their 20th anniversary with three special performances of Puccini's dramatic Tosca tonight, tomorrow and then on Tuesday at the National Concert Hall (see nch.ie). They will be headed by English soprano Naomi Harvey in the title role, with the acclaimed American tenor Michael Wade Lee as Cavaradossi. The cast will be joined by the Palestrina Choir.

3 Do mothers and daughters ever understand each other, or is the issue that they understand each other too well, seeing themselves in the other? A New Day by Gerard Lee explores this enduring dilemma with a most impressive cast of Charlotte Bradley and Kate Stanley Brennan, lunchtimes in Bewley's Café Theatre, bewleyscafetheatre.com.
