1 The Eileen Gray exhibition at the Irish Museum of Modern Art has just been extended until January 26. Go now, this is a very important, and best of all, very interesting, major retrospective of one of our most fascinating artists.

2 Wicked at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre is a proper treat even for such an unmusical lover as I. The story is a brilliant example in reinvention, how we the gullible public have been manipulated into believing the Witch of the West to be Wicked, when really she was just misunderstood. You emerge loving everyone, apart from the Wizard.

3 Cassandra at the Wedding by Dorothy Baker is the novel to discover. It was first published in 1962, but Dorothy Baker's tale of a self-destructive sibling faced with her twin sister's wedding has lost none of its observational accuracy. It is knowing, wise and a cracking read.
