Open night to remember
Spending a night at a museum has become something of a fantasy ever since Ben Stiller and Robin Williams did it in their 2006 movie, Night at the Museum. It's also become quite the trend here with Culture Night, where galleries, theatres, churches and all sorts of venues throw open their doors for one night only all around the country.
This Friday, September 20, the good people of Ireland can gain access to lots of cultural, artistic and musical events free of charge. And some of the best? RTE Concert Orchestra gives a one-off performance in the Meeting House Square in Dublin's Temple Bar; there's a fashion show happening on the iconic old walls of Derry; and an edible art installation will be in place at the Doorway Gallery in Dublin. Last year 300,000 citizens of Ireland filled the streets. It's co-ordinated by Temple Bar Cultural Trust. www.culturenight.ie
