Musical version of Irish love story ‘Once’ tops Tony Award nominations in New York
THE Broadway musical version of the love story Once has topped the poll winning the highest number of Tony Award nominations in New York.
The musical, which stars Steve Kazee and Cristin Miloti, received 11 nominations including those for the two main actors.
The story is that of an Irish busker and Czech piano player who share a passion for music and each other.
The original film was made in 2006 and was written and directed by John Carney.
It starred musicians Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova.
The awards honour Broadway's best musicals and plays and take place on June 10.
