‘Mummy porn’ Fifty Shades author EL James earning over $1m a week

EL JAMES, the author of the Fifty Shades trilogy, dubbed ‘mummy porn’, is earning $1m a week – according to reports.

Earlier this week, her erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey became the fastest selling paperback to sell one million copies outdoing Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code and it also became the first Kindle ebook to achieve the same record.

According to celebritynetworth.com, she is earning $1.35m a week.

"It's safe to assume that EL James has long ago sold enough copies to repay her seven-figure book advance, which means at this point she is earning the standard 7pc royalty on every $14 paperback and 25pc royalty on every $10 ebook,” the site states.

"In the last month, James has sold 4 million paperbacks and 1 million ebooks, which equates to $2.94m in paperback royalties and $2.497m in ebook royalties."

The novel Fifty Shades of Grey started off as Twilight fanfiction, and took off from there to break records and become a multi-million money spinner.
