Mates make the right moves
TWO West End stars have been reunited on a Dublin stage 12 years after they last acted here together.
Poppy Tierney and Shona White are the principal actresses in the musical 'Chess', which opened last night.
The friends first met when White (on the right) was Tierney's understudy in 'Les Miserables' at the Point in 1999.
"It was very early in both our careers and taught us a great deal," said Tierney.
Although Tim Rice, who penned the musical with Abba's Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, was unable to attend, Gay Byrne, Anne Doyle, Derek Mooney, Joe Duffy and Miriam O'Callaghan brought some glamour to the first night.
'Chess' is at the Grand Canal Theatre until Saturday.
