'He's just a cook, I'm a chef' -- Ramsay
Despite his reputation as a nice guy, Jamie has come in for his fair share of stick since he was "discovered" when working as a sous chef in the River Café in 1996.
Some viewers don't like his Estuary accent, or the fact that he didn't wear a tie to receive his MBE in 2003.
And Jamie's tongue -- unusually large apparently -- has come in for criticism. There's even a Facebook page devoted to it.
He even gets slagged off for the names he and Jools have given their children: Poppy Honey, Daisy Boo, Petal Blossom and Buddy Bear.
One celeb who definitely doesn't like Jamie is foul-mouthed chef Gordon Ramsay.
"He's just a cook," sniffed Ramsay, "whereas I'm a chef."
Jamie replied that Ramsay's wife, Tana -- author of Tana Ramsay's Real Family Food -- was a better cook than her husband.
Jamie also seems resigned to provoking mixed reactions. "The British kind of hate people who do nice things," he once said.
Thankfully, it hasn't stopped him.
