THOUSANDS of people are expected to descend on the Iveagh Gardens in Dublin over the next four days for the Carlsberg Comedy Carnival.

More than 60 international and Irish comedians are to play 44 shows, including Tommy Tiernan, Des Bishop, 'Apres Match', PJ Gallagher, Ardal O'Hanlon and Neil Delamere.

The international line-up features Phill Jupitus from 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks', who will be appearing with the stars of 'Whose Line is it Anyway?' along with original member Josie Lawrence.

Festival director Bren Berry of Aiken Promotions yesterday said he was "delighted" with the line-up. "It's a great compliment to the event that so many acts from around the world want to be involved," he added.

The performances will take place in four fully seated, purpose-built venues, including the Iveagh Theatre tent, the Carlsberg Comedy Carousel, the Shack and the Grand Pavilion.

Tickets will be sold on a show-by-show basis starting from €23.
