Everything in Iveagh Gardens is rosy -- and funny
WE all need a laugh right now. So there was good news last night when some of the most talented comics in the business were confirmed for the Vodafone Comedy Festival 2012.
An audience of 20,000 is expected for the festival which takes place at the Iveagh Gardens in Dublin from July 26-29.
Among the comedians is US star Michael Winslow -- 'the man of 10,000 sound effects' -- who found fame playing Sgt Larvelle 'Motor Mouth' Jones in 'Police Academy'. Last night, he revealed shooting on a new film, the first since 1994, would begin in September.
"They're reaching out to all the original cast members to come back," he told the Irish Independent.
"They might be funny films but I've had policemen come up to me and thank me for the movies which they say shows the humanity in law enforcement. I think the public like them too because it gives them a chance to laugh at authority, and its old-style comedy where no one gets hurt."
Other attractions include Reginald D Hunter; Pub Landlord Al Murray; Edinburgh Fringe winner Tim Key as well as Irish comedians Tommy Tiernan, Jason Byrne, PJ Gallagher, Ardal O'Hanlon, David O'Doherty, Neil Delamere, The Nualas, David McSavage, Barry Murphy, Fred Cooke, Eleanor Tiernan and Aidan Bishop.
Pre-sale tickets for the Vodafone Comedy Festival will available today until June 17, and through the fFestival Facebook page www.facebook.com/ vodafonecomedyfestival.
General release tickets will be available from June 18 on www.ticketmaster.ie.
