David Gest to make Frankenstein debut on stage
REALITY TV star David Gest is to make his stage debut as Frankenstein's Monster in a new stage musical.
The I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! star will tread the boards for nine weeks in comedy horror Nightmare On Lime Street at Liverpool's Royal Court theatre later this year.
He will also joined for a one-off performance by Michael Jackson's mother Katherine, brother Tito and sister Rebbie in a charity gala performance.
Gest - a close pal of the late king of pop - said: "I sang a couple of my numbers from the show on the phone last night to Dionne Warwick and Smokey Robinson and they were both shocked that I was actually in key - so was I for that matter."
Tito joked: "David is a complete natural for a role as a monster who wants to be a Broadway star. I'm sure he'll put all his effort into making this a huge success and, let's face it, everyone in the UK knows he is very funny."
Former chart stars Sister Sledge will also star in the show, created by playwright and TV screenwriter Fred Lawless, which is set in Liverpool Museum. Curator Frankenstein is surprised to find his latest monster is a polite and well-behaved American.
Gest stars as the monster-in-training from November 23 in the Christmas show.
Jackson's family will guest star in a special performance on December 2. It will be followed by a dinner and auction featuring items once owned by Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Lady Gaga, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
