The shortlist for this year's Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards has been announced and it boasts an eclectic mix of the best of Irish literary talent.

Now in its tenth year the awards includes 15 categories spanning all literary genres and among the authors up for gongs this year are favourites Cecelia Ahern, Anne Enright, Ross O'Carroll Kelly, Kevin Barry and Edna O'Brien.

The awards ceremony and gala dinner will be held on November 25 in the DoubleTree hilton Hotel, Dublin 4.
