Sophie Mackintosh is a writer of extraordinary speculative fiction, with her first novel, The Water Cure (2018), long-listed for the Man Booker Prize. Her second, Blue Ticket, came out a few years later, and in her third novel, Cursed Bread, we have a fantastically eerie and erotic story based very loosely on the 1951 mass poisoning of a French village.
