Within hours of her death on Thursday night, comedienne Joan Rivers' book sales soared into the stratosphere.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Diary of a Mad Diva sales shot up a whopping 70750 per cent on Amazon, making it the No.2 bestselling book at the online retailer.

It had been languishing at 1,417 after its July release.

Her previous book, I Hate Everyone... Starting with Me, also saw sales shoot up since Thursday, by an impressive 17496 per cent.  It now sits at No. 55.

Both books hit No. 1 and No. 2 on Amazon’s “Movers and Shakers” list, which tracks movement over the past 24 hours.

The star, famous for her acid-tongued gags, died on Thursday following a cardiac arrest at a Manhattan's doctor's office following a routine procedure.  She was 81.
