behind enemy lines: remembering our heroes
• Maureen Patricia 'Paddy' O'Sullivan from Dublin -- one of the 40 women who joined F Section of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during World War Two. She is pictured, left, with her husband, Walter Alvey.
Maureen, who served in France, was one of the top secret agents with the SOE, who conducted guerrilla warfare and helped resistance movements behind enemy lines. Her father was a journalist and editor of the Freeman's Journal.
• Captain Redmond Cunninngham, right, from Waterford, was father of the novelist Peter Cunningham.
He was awarded the Military Cross -- the only Military Cross awarded to an Irishman on D-Day.
