Back To The Future day just keeps on giving as late last night Irish time, Nike announced the release of the world's first ever self-lacing shoes.

The runners are modelled on Marty McFly's shoes in the Back To The Future film but this time, they actually self-lace.

Nike previously announced shoes with lights based on the iconic brogues, and fans worldwide were disappointed that the exact replicas could not lace themselves.

Nike sent Back to the Future fans into a frenzy online after tweeting 'See you tomorrow' to Michael J. Fox on October 20th - the day before 'Back To The Future Day'.

The video, which was posted to the Facebook Page of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, has been viewed over eleven million times in eleven hours. It shows Michael J. Fox, who played Marty McFly in the films, trying on the shoes and exclaiming 'that's insane!"

The shoes will be on limited release in 2016 and all profits will go towards the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Back To The Future Day is a day for fans to celebrate the cult classic. It was held October 21st, 2015 as a reference to the date character Marty goes to 'in the future'. In the film, 2015 had hoverboards, self-lacing shoes and cinemas were playing 'Jaws 19'. Hoverboards were released this year (albeit with wheels), a trailer for Jaws 19 was released for Back To The Future Day and now Nike have completed the trifecta.
