After watching this video we are feeling positively prehistoric.

Most technology can be turned on or off, muted or set to vibrate with the mere swipe of a touchscreen.

American teenager Layla (14) was asked by her dad to hang up a land-line phone in their hotel room and she had absolutely no idea how to do it.

The reason she couldn't carry out the task? Because she had never used a landline.

Ever.

After requesting a wake up call from the concierge, her father can be heard asking Layla to hang up the phone for him.

The teen, sucking on a lollipop, stares at him looking baffled and asks: "How do I do that?"

Her father replies: "Are you serious? It's a phone, hang it up."

Layla looks even more puzzled and begins examining the phone, perhaps looking for a screen or a button to press.

She then resorts to asking her mother, who can be seen in the background, for help.

Her mother comes over to assist the confused youngster and says: "Just put it down."

Layla's father, who is filming the debacle, can be heard dissolving into fits of laughter.

Unsurprisingly the video has gone viral since it was uploaded last week.
