Woman who was abandoned as baby in Burger King bathroom finds her mother after 27 years... on Facebook
A woman found her mother who abandoned her as a baby in a Burger King bathroom through Facebook after 27 years.
Katheryn Deprill tracked down her biological mother after launching a Facebook appeal at the beginning of this month and met her for the first time on Monday.
The 27-year-old kicked off her search by posting a photograph of herself and a long detailed plea to find her mum.
‘‘"Looking for my birth mother... She abandoned me in the Burger King bathroom only hours old, Allentown PA. Please help me find her by sharing my post,’’ she wrote.
Ms Deprill quickly became known as the Burger King Baby after thousands of social media users reposted the picture and asked others to help in her quest to find her mother.
Just hours old when she was abandoned, she was wrapped in a red sweater and left in the bathroom of the fast-food restaurant in 1986.
The mum-of-three insisted she felt "pure joy" and said it was like "looking in a mirror" when she finally met her mum in the office of a lawyer.
The heartfelt online plea was shared tens of thousands of times on social media.
She insisted she had questions that she had to ask her real mother.
‘‘Number one is, I would really like to say, thank you for not throwing me away, thank you for giving me the gift of life, and look what I've become," she told the AP news agency.
"What made her do it? Why did she feel that she shouldn't leave me at a hospital? Was she going through a horrible time?’’ she added.
Ms Deprill, who is a married mother now, was raised by adoptive parents.
After meeting her birth mother, she insisted the pair have made plans to meet up regularly in the future.
