What else are mums for? Irish schoolchildren tell us why they love their mammies
Kerry primary school kids are sure to impress their mammies this weekend
Playing, making delicious dinners, reading stories, watching you dance and getting things up high when you can't reach them - what else are Irish mammies for?
Mums will be the centre of attention this weekend for Mother's Day, but the children at Holy Cross Mercy School in Killarney, Co Kerry are one step ahead with their adorable video.
The senior infants, helped by their teacher Catherine Mangan, have produced a video using an iPad and green screen technology.
Speaking to Independent.ie, proud teacher Catherine, who is also an Apple Distinguished Educator, said some children brought in photographs with them, while others opted to draw a picture of their mum.
"They love the green screen," she said.
"We're a Digital School of Distinction so we're interested in how we can use technology in the classroom.
"Some of the children brought in photographs of their mammies, while others drew a picture in class.
"We took a photo of each image and uploaded them to the video. The kids then said why they loved their mum in front of the green screen in the school."
Catherine said the children were delighted to see themselves "on the TV".
The primary school is also part of an Erasmus programme which means they are sharing good practice using technology in the classroom with other schools across Europe.
