Employees and visitors of a popular Dublin museum were asked which Irish man or woman they would most like to take on a date - and there were some surprising answers.

Punters at EPIC: The Irish Emigration Museum, which celebrates Ireland's emigrants impact around the world, had some interesting answers.

"I would truly love to go on a St Valentine's Day date with John Fitzgerald Kennedy," one woman said, while one visitor had a more contemporary figure in mind.

"If I had to say, it would be Sonia O'Sullivan. She's just an idol."

Another lady had an ulterior motive in choosing her date.

"The one I've chosen, I have to say, he's not really a looker. His name is John Kinder Labatt and he ended up inventing Labatt's beer."

Liam Neeson, Boy George and even Rihanna also feature as potential daters.

Epic is the world's first fully-digitised museum. Over €4m was invested in technology to tell the story of 900 years of Ireland's emigration and global influence. The museum aims to cater for 750,000 visitors annually by 2020, which would make it Dublin's third-most visited tourist attraction after the Guinness Storehouse and the Book of Kells at Trinity College.
