WATCH: Touching video captures moment vet comforts terrified stray dog by joining her in cage newsdesk

This is the touching moment a vet comforts a terrified dog by sitting in her cage and eating breakfast alongside her.

Stray dog Graycie was brought to the Granite Hills Animal Care in Elberton, Georgia after being found rummaging around alone nearby . The pooch looks terrified at the start of the clip, but soon she's joined by vet Dr Andy Mathis and begins to come out of her shell slightly.

The video was only published on the Granite Hills Facebook page four days ago, but it has already amassed a whooping 6 million views. The video has also been shared more than 85,000 times.

Since then, the centre has been overwhelmed with the number of people calling and emailing to ask about Graycie, an employee posted on the Facebook page.

"She has a little ways to go before she is ready to start looking for her family. She's got to learn to trust people, walk on a leash, poop outside, figure out if she likes other dogs and cats, gets along with other dogs or cats," it read.

"Tomorrow, I might see if she'll hang out in the front office, a little more around people. I suspect that she'll mostly try to hide under the desk, but we'll see."
