A filmmaker's glossy video ad for a 1996 used Honda has gone viral, generating a huge bid for a car originally priced at $499 (€429)
The BBC report on the video posted on YouTube three days ago by Max Lanman to help sell his girlfriend's 21-year-old Accord.
The ad, which looks just like a high-end TV advertisement for a brand new car, has garnered over 2 million views since it went online.
The YouTube page also has a link to eBay where the car is for sale.
After starting at a lowly $499, the top bid now stands at a staggering $135,800 (€116,900).
The ad, which also features a cheeky voice over, ends with the tagline 'Luxury is a state of mind'.
Speaking to the BBC Lanman said the idea came to him when he and his girlfriend were driving along the coast towards Big Sur in California.
"It dawned on me that it would be really funny to film a car commercial for a really crappy car against such a gorgeous backdrop," he said.
