Footage of a sprightly 101-year-old woman larking about in the snow has melted thousands of hearts around the world.

Albina Foisy, from British Columbia, Canada, proved that you're never too old to have fun in the snow.

The centenarian was full of smiles when she energetically jumped out of her son's car to experience the snow at first hand.

Her son Armand Foisy told CBC news said he decided to turn the car around as the snow got heavier.

Here's proof that if you find pure joy in the simple things you can live a 100 years.

However before he could resume driving his mother surprised him by hopping out of the car.

"When you have a mother that's 101 years old, it's a good idea to keep the camera nearby for those special moments," he says in the footage.

The video has gone viral with over 7.7 million views.

"Oh my, oh my, look at this," Albina says, making a neat snowball and throwing it into the trees.

The woman can be heard laughing in delight as she exclaims : “It’s kind of fun to play in the snow."

Speaking to The Huffington Post Canada, Foisy said the video shows his mother's "warmth, joy and unending curiosity".

"That has kept her going so well, because she wants to learn and experience.

"Mom is very astute and very aware of everything," he said.

Albina lived alone until she reached her milestone 100th birthday and then moved in with her son and daughter-in-law.
