Tinder users report being matched with 'Mary Robinson'

Clare Cullen

Several Tinder users have reported being matched with profiles using a picture of former Irish president Mary Robinson.

The profiles do not claim to be Mrs. Robinson in name but use the same black-and-white photograph of her.

The descriptions for the profiles are written as if from an older woman, referring to male Tinder users as "young men of today".

Some users think it's an attempt at 'viral marketing' by the app, while others are convinced it's a prankster.

Tinder is the 'world's most popular dating app', reported to have over 10m active daily users.

Users swipe left or right to approve or reject a profile. If two users both 'like' each other, the app offers them a chat functionality.
