TD 'burned' on Twitter by Scottish First Minister in #JacketGate row
Junior Minister Aodhán Ó Ríordáin accidentally became embroiled in a war of words between the Scottish First Minister and Sky News Correspondent David Blevins.
Sky News correspondent David Blevins sparked a 'sexism' row when he tweeted photographs of the female Northern Irish First Minister, Scottish First Minister and a journalist wearing similar blazers, writing "First ministers and journalists are sharing a wardrobe!"
In response, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon tweeted a photograph of Blevins beside a photograph of Irish Minister for Equality Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, writing "Oh no, male journalist and male politician wear the same suit!"
Women on Twitter responded well to the tweet, with one writing that Blevins would "need some treatment for that burn".
Ó Ríordáin spotted the tweet, writing "Well that was unexpected".
All is well between the pair, however, as Sturgeon replied "Sorry Aodhan, yours was the first (and nicest) photo I found" and the two exchanged friendly tweets.
Blevins joked on Twitter "that's the last fashion report I do... it appears to have sparked a national incident!"
Buzzfeed are currently running a poll on which of the two men wore the suit better, which Ó Ríordáin is winning 95 per cent to 5 per cent at the time of publication.
