A missing plaque which had been gifted to Lillie's Bordello by Ross O' Carroll Kelly has been returned to the public house - along with a note of apology from the culprit.

Lillie's Bordello has revealed the much-missed sign has been returned safe and sound, arriving by "normal post... with a little apology letter attached".

The attached note reads:

"Enclosed is your missing sign that I shamefully took at some point in the midst of a very drunken stupor".

The mystery person says that they had intended to return the plaque but had put it off, and implied that the media publicity around the missing plaque had spurred them on.

Speaking to Independent.ie, Fiona Rafferty of Lillie's said "it's great to have it back".

"We are all thrilled - 1,500 women can sleep easy, knowing it's going back up".

The secret sender enclosed their sincerest apologies and appealed for Ross O' Carroll-Kelly to "call off Liam Neeson".
