Some viewers of RTE's New Year's Eve Countdown Concert were disappointed with the actual countdown to midnight last night.

RTE One had a cracking line-up in the run up to midnight with Imelda May's New Year's Eve Special running until 11.50pm, followed by live coverage from Custom House Quay for the countdown itself.

The NYE Countdown Concert had been taking place all evening with bands including Keywest and Hudson Taylor performing for assembled crowds.  Kodaline headlined and Sinead Kennedy presented the live coverage for RTE One.

The show included an aerial and aquatic display with acrobatic performers taking to the sky and the river Liffey as well as a spectacular fireworks display.

However, some viewers were disappointed as they experienced 'glitches' in coverage while others were unimpressed with the countdown itself.

In a statement RTE said, "RTE can confirm that there was a loss of signal for a few seconds, the cause of which is being looked into".
