A new challenge is trending online in response to one which caused controversy online.

The 'Self Love Challenge' challenges users to love their flaws, and comes in response to another challenge which was misinterpreted.

The 'Don't Judge Challenge' was supposed to highlight that people should not judge a book by its cover, but it caused controversy online in the way it was carried out. Users were making themselves up as 'ugly' and then showing themselves as 'beautiful' in an attempt to say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, many social media users were outraged by how young users were portraying themselves as 'ugly' - by painting on freckles, 'unibrows' and spots and sporting glasses and braces. Many users pointed out that to some people, these traits are 'beautiful', and by using them as 'ugly' traits, the challenge was belittling people who had those traits.

The 'Self Love Challenge' was borne from the outrage and aims to encourage everyone to embrace themselves for who they are, regardless of how they look. Users are posting se;fies of their 'flaws' and encouraging others to do the same.
