#SelfieOlympics trends on Twitter as 'Selfies' get competitive
The art of the 'selfie' has reached a whole new level, with the element of competition being introduced.
The rules are simple - the biggest, best selfies win the #SelfieOlympics. From cancer patients taking 'selfies' during chemo to an astronaut selfie from space to people dragging barbeques into their bathroom, the 'Selfie Olympics' have taken on a life of their own.
Several Twitter accounts have sprung up to manage the influx of photos under the hashtag, the three most popular with a cumulative following of almost 300,000.
Twitter accounts @SelfieFail and @SelfieGames have renamed themselves to jump on the popular trend, started by account @SelfieOlympics.
Not everyone was impressed with the efforts, however.
