An apparent slip of the keyboard has resulted in a screenshot of an RTE article going viral.

The screenshot was circulated yesterday around after the picture was posted to Reddit.

The article related to the marriage of RTE newsreader Aengus Mac Grianna and his long-term partner, Terry Gill.

In the screenshot, the headline appears to read 'Wedding Balls for Aengus' instead of 'wedding bells'. RTE have not commented on the alleged mishap and the screenshot has not been independently verified as un-edited.

Regardless, the image circulated social media site Facebook yesterday as many media organisations reported on the much-anticipated wedding

MacGrianna and his new husband, Terry Gill, were the first same-sex couple to be featured on the cover of the RTE Guide.

The two men met in a Dublin pub The Front Lounge 10 years ago when Mac Grianna was enjoying a “liquid lunch” with some of his colleagues and instantly hit it off. The happy couple will travel to the UK in the coming weeks to legally marry.

Mac Grianna has spoken about the issue of marriage equality in the past.

He said: “It's simply a question of equality. All of my brothers and sisters are married and I don't see any difference as to why I shouldn't be allowed that too. I'm not prepared to take a lesser status.”
