A video creator found himself on the recieving end of some harsh criticism when a video of him in character went viral.

A YouTube video creator, known as 'boogie', has gone viral with his PS4 unboxing video 'in character' as 'Frankie'.

The entertainer plays several characters in his videos, among which is 'Frankie', who the creator describes as "raging and lisping".

The unboxing video featuring 'Frankie' throwing his old console and shouting at his wife has gained over 1.7m views since it was posted two days ago.

Many viewers of the video were previously unaware of the character of 'Frankie' and have reacted negatively to the spoiled, tantrum-throwing depiction. 'Boogie' describes the comments, tweets and posts as including "some really hurtful stuff".

The creator of the character has come out with a follow-up video to respond to some of the more personal attacks. He mentions a few examples of extremely "hurtful" comments, including "glad Sony gave him a playstation before his heart gave out".

'Boogie' has over 900,000 subscribers on the video-sharing website YouTube. It is his full-time job, and 'Frankie' and 'redneck Jessy' are his two main characters.
