Niall Horan first Irish person to hit 30 million followers on Twitter (25.9m more than Conor McGregor)

Niall Horan has just broken a record on social media.

The former One Direction star is the first Irish person to ever break 30 million followers on Twitter.

The 24-year-old is now officially the number one Irish person to follow.

He's leagues ahead of the next most popular Irish star on the social network - MMA star Conor McGregor has a paltry 4.1 million by comparison.

In fact, he has more followers than all other members of the top 10 Irish based Twitter accounts combined (a whopping 7.4 million more).
