Kayleah Long abused on Twitter after husband Shane targeted by West Brom fans
It was an eventful weekend for the Longs as Shane won a controversial penalty against his former team while wife Kayleah was subjected to online abuse from West Brom fans.
The Republic of Ireland striker has made an impressive start to his Hull career since his £6.5m switch from West Brom in January and on Saturday he lined up against the Baggies for the first time in Hull colours.
The Tipp native won a penalty which the striker admitted was “soft”, which sparked off abusive chanting despite Long refusing to celebrate scoring against his former team-mates.
His wife Kayleah later took to Twitter to brand the vocal critics as “pathetic” and “sick” before being subjected to abuse herself for her views.
I got clipped, no I didnt dive, yeah it was a soft and thats why i didnt claim for it. Anyway a big 3points for us.— shane long (@Shanelong009) March 22, 2014
"Think it disgusting how people can abuse some1 in front of their child! You should be ashamed!" she tweeted.
Many Albion supporters tweeted Ms Long to apologise on behalf of the minority who abused both husband and wife following Hull’s 2-0 victory at the KC Stadium.
